Our Story

How we got started...

We were established in 1998.

What do you give a group of daisy scouts that's affordable for Christmas? I gave our troop handmade bars of soap. Impressed with the product I had created, the mothers asked for more and a variety of scents and lotions to match. The Soap Lady Store was created!

Working out of my home studio, I created a business that allowed me to stay home with our children. One of my best sellers is a product I call Extreme Creme that was made for my youngest daughter suffering from eczema. Made with no preservatives, only pure natural emollients and beeswax, it worked for her when no other recommended product would. This product has now become one of our most requested items.

Developing a loyal following by creating a quality product, I became friends with my customers. Creating original molds for their wedding favors led to the baby showers which led to custom molds designed for companies wishing to provide a unique locally made product.

We have been in a storefront for 25 years years now, selling lots of soap and also promoting other quality locally made products. In January 2018, we moved across the parking lot to a much larger location at 106 East Main Street. More room, more products and the space to create them! So far, the response from our customers has been great and we are meeting new friends everyday.

Mother of four, one son, three daughters. Gigi to two grandsons, five granddaughters! Wife of the handsome "soapdude"! A general contractor who married me to eliminate his competition (yes, I had a great career in construction before becoming The Soap Lady)!

I absolutely love people, especially talking to them! Ideas abound and some of my best creations were inspired by my customers and their children!

Blessed to have created a business that allows me to interact with people from all walks of life all around our world. One of my best friends, Lisa, is my right arm and co-conspirator while our oldest daughter Megan is definitely my left and keeps me focused! Two long time friends Chris and Teresa pitch in when needed and always are supportive of everything soap! Teresa made our labels in the basement while we sold soap off the dining room table and Chris designed all of the logos we use on our products. The three of us were brought together by Girl Scouts!

Lisa has been my neighbor for years! I followed her in and out of the neighborhood for months to school, realizing I'm never going to meet her as I live at the end of our road. True story...I pulled in her drive after a month of following her to and from the same elementary school to introduce myself and suggest we carpool!

Demand grew after beginning to participate in local bazaars, quickly outgrew the dining room. Offered a small but just right storefront in the heart of Jamestown, I thought to try it for one year to see if it would work. Lisa came to help and we were only open 9-3 as we all had young children. Jamestown had only a couple of businesses at the time so we created our own social evenings each month to stay open late, fond memories of great times with customers that became friends.

Couldn't have created this small business without the many friends that helped and supported The Soaplady Store for so many years! Singles worked then left to become full time moms, students, careers and now still fill in where necessary. You make a lot of soap, lotion, etc after 25 years! You make a lot of lifelong friends and customers too!

Thank you for entrusting your skincare, and special event favors to us. Here's to the next 25!
